Prevent Split Ends with These Simple Tricks
Split ends are a common problem, regardless of hair type and length, but there are simple tricks that can help you get rid of split ends. Here are some simple changes you can make to your hair routine to prevent split ends.
Change the way you shampoo. When you apply shampoo and conditioner, concentrate on the ends. This helps to strengthen the hair shaft. Opt for strengthening shampoos and conditioners. Avoid products that contain alcohol as it dries out the hair. Try Nexxus ProMend split End Treatment Daily Shampoo and ProMend Split End Binding Daily Conditioner. The shampoo helps to strengthen the strands while the conditioner binds the split ends together. Avon Advance Techniques Dry Ends Serum smoothes out the split, dry ends and gives the appearance of silky, healthy-looking hair. TRESemme Vitamin B12 & Gelatin Anti-Breakage Conditioner effectively prevents split ends and lessens hair breakage as well. Dove Damage Therapy Intensive Repair Shampoo is effective for badly-damaged hair at a truly great price. Sunsilk Hydra TLC Conditioner is another inexpensive solution to split ends. Do not over shampoo. Try shampooing every other day. And never use hot water to wash your hair.
Brushing hair gently is also an effective way of preventing split ends. It distributes the oils evenly throughout the hair, from the scalp to the ends. Brushing the hair while it is wet can cause breakage if you are not careful so detangle the hair using a wide-toothed comb instead. When removing tangles, brush the hair gently from the bottom to the top so as not to create static or frizz that can badly damage the hair.
Try applying hair oils from the mid-shaft to the ends. These are the areas where the most breakage and split ends occur. Argan oil-based products are best. This hides the breakage and makes your hair appear silky and healthy. To prevent the danger of oil residue, pour the product on to your palms first and dab onto the hair using your fingertips. Oil residue can make your hair look limp and thin.
Finally, stop over-styling your hair. Curling irons and straighteners are the major causes of split ends. Apply a leave-on conditioner before styling with these products. Choose one with keratin proteins which effectively coat the hair and seal the breaks. When you blow-dry, aim the nozzle at the roots and the mid-shaft. Our hair tips burn easily. Instead of blow-drying them, let them air dry naturally instead.

Choosing the Right Sunglasses
Summer is here and the one accessory you should have is sunglasses. Your sunglasses can define your strongest features and downplay those which you least like. For this reason, you have to know what the shape of your face is and what looks best for your type. And you do not have to spend a fortune on sunglasses either. You can be chic and stylish and look your best using shades that are, for all intents and purposes, cheap. Here are some suggestions that best fits the different face shapes.
Heart-Shaped Face
If your forehead is wide and your jaw is narrow, then you have a heart-shaped face. To highlight your face’s shape, choose sunglasses or shades that mimic it. Choose shades that have a wider top and a narrower bottom. A pair of sunglasses with this shape will draw attention to the thinnest part of your face. If you are one who is on the look-out for a classic look, then go for sunglasses in black. But if you want to embrace the spirit of fun, then by all means, try fun colors such as pink or floral stunners.
Oval Face
If your cheekbones, forehead and chin are well-balanced, then you have an oval face. And if you have an oval face, you are so lucky. Almost all sunglasses will work for your face. But stay away from those that are too big or too small. The key is to keep everything in the proper scale. Try a medium-sized cat-eye. They flatter your face shape and add drama to your well-proportioned face. Whether you go for a neutral color or a bold shade, they add a touch of glamour to your warm-weather ensembles.
Round Face
If you have a face that is broadest at your cheekbones and your forehead and chin are narrower, then you have a round face. To make your face look thinner, avoid round-shaped lenses. Choose a style that has a straight bridge and oval bottoms, such as aviators which help to give the illusion of length to your face. The vintage-inspired look of aviators shades work because of the flat-top connecting the lenses. They make the face look narrower.
Oblong Face
If your face is significantly longer than it is wide and it is almost rectangular, then you have an oblong face. Stay away from narrow, round-rimmed shades. These will only make your face appear longer. Make sure the frames touch your cheekbones. If they don’t then they are too small for you. Try a wrap-around style or something oversized to create the illusion of a rounder silhouette. But always make sure that extra-large frames always sit on your cheekbones. If they don’t, then they don’t fit.
Square Face
If your forehead, cheekbones and chin are wide, and your jaw line is strong, then you have a square face. To counteract the angular shape of your face, choose lenses that are oval in shape and have no sharp edges. Choose a frame that is wider than the broadest part of your face to soften the square features. Think of the shades that Jacky O would wear; those are the shades that you should be wearing, too.

Fabulous Christmas Ornaments
It's always a great idea to shop for christmas ornaments sale here at this time, rather than buy them as the season nears. Buying stuff from last year's stocks are way cheaper than buying new stocks. Sometimes you can even score decors for as low as $1. Besides, who will ever know that the ornaments you bought are from last year's? The Christmas Place is having a sale right now. I'd head on over there now if I were you before stocks run out.

Great Make-up Tips for Summer
We are well into the summer months and while the only thing you should really be laying on thick is sunscreen, some of us may feel naked without make-up. Here are some ideas on how to lighten up on your make-up and still look well put-together.
Go Naked
Try sticking to concealers instead of lathering on your usual foundations. This will eliminate your having to worry about blotting away your make-up along with the shine on your face. Use a stick concealer for the best effect, dabbing only slightly with your fingers. Stick concealers are made of a slightly denser formula and will stay on longer than liquid bases.
Use Tinted Moisturizers
If you are the type who feels naked without make-up, you can swap your usual foundation for tinted moisturizers. They can even out your skin tones, at the same time adding radiance to your skin. What’s more, they do not feel so heavy in all the summer heat you will likely experience. While I try to avoid naming products that I specially favor, I use Lancôme Rènergie Éclat Multi-Lift myself.
Use a Bronzer
Being Asian, I have no need for a bronzer but my daughter is fair-skinned and I have found that a bronzer helps make her look and feel better even without her make-up on during the hot summer months. Applying a bronzer with a slight shimmer and peach or pink undertones on the apples of your cheeks, across your nose bridge and on your temples mimics where the sun naturally hits your face. It does make you look pulled-together without being fully made-up.
Use Shine Strategically
A good tip I read coming from make-up artist Tom Pecheux is to add light-catching highlights to your face despite the minimal summer make-up you are wearing. This will add a glow to your face even without the usual make-up you put on. To attain the highlights, you will need to blend a touch of liquid highlighter on the top of your cheekbones and brow bones and down the bridge of your nose. Be careful not to go all the way down to the tip of your nose though as it will look oily. This technique may require some practice but you will get there for sure.
Multitasking Makeup
I have learned to use lipstick as a cream blush. That is what I meant by multitasking makeup. My lipstick multitasks as a blusher. It lasts long on my lips and withstands drinking and wiping my mouth so it can stay on my cheeks all day long as well with no problems. I normally go out during the humid summer months wearing nothing on my face except my lipstick on my lips and on my cheekbones. They stay on for as long as my day lasts and withstands wiping the sweat off my face.
Make Mascara Last
Avoid raccoon eyes by using water-resistant mascara. But if you are irritated by these long-wearing formulas, a good trick is to sweep clear mascara over regular black mascara on your lashes to seal the color. You may use only the clear mascara on your bottom lashes. No amount of sweating will give you the dreaded raccoon eyes now. I got this tip from the guy who regularly cuts my hair and does my makeup for special occasions and it works wonderfully for me and my daughters.
Brighten Your Eyes
Darker shades of eye shadow can be changed to deep copper tones all over your lids for a more summery look without losing the smoky feel. For a softer look, try a shimmery golden pink color. Choose a long-wearing cream-to-powder eye shadow in a color that glimmers and shimmers to help brighten and define your eyes.
Stay Away From Heavy Lipstick
Summer is not the time for heavy makeup, much less heavy lipstick. Go for tinted balms and bright stains instead. A hint of color is best for the summer months. A good tip is to just dab on a bright, deeply pigmented lipstick with your finger, blot, then repeat until you reach the color you desire.
