Stick with One Pattern to Look Leaner

Mixing stripes with polka dots is not such a good idea. It causes the eye to ping-pong from side to side, making the midsection seem wider than it is. Stick with stripes. It doesn't overwhelm the eye, so the silhouette is more defined for a leaner look from head to toe.
